Alexiis teaches grace, strength and community through the combination of fusion and American Tribal Style influenced bellydance. Classes are on going and suitable for all healthy bodies.

This dance style has no age, race or size limitations.

Because of this, Flamenco became an art form giving voice to the disempowered and marginalized. Because of the intensity of the emotions projected, it has come to be seen as one of the most passionate musical and dance forms around today. Over time, several different rhythms developed to portray the whole spectrum of human emotion, from the sadness and loneliness of persecution, to the joy of being in love. Today Flamenco is one of the most transcendent art forms in the world, having recently been named a World Heritage Art Form by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The Introduction to Flamenco Dance class is a class designed to introduce beginners to this ancient, but extremely relevant tradition as it continues grow in popularity. Students will learn the foundations of Flamenco posture, heelwork, arm and hand techniques, and the percussive rhythmic clapping known as "palmas", which is used to keep time. Closed or strapped shoes with a short thick heel are highly recommended. Character or Flamenco shoes are preferable. For women, a long, flowing skirt is also recommended.

The lips buzz, vibrating at one end of a fat open tube to create the sound, and sending vibrations throughout the player's body. Chords are sounded; the mouth shapes the sound of the deep, deep drone to amplify various harmonics. It's entrancing to play & to hear.

Regular playing of the didjeridu has also been documented to open the lungs and nasal passages, improving breathing problems such a sleep apnea and snoring.

We can study: making a good sound, breathing, shaping the sound with the mouth, feeling the vibrations, creating patterns both rhythmically and sonically. And we listen to Aboriginal music.

We may also work towards the one & only DIDJERI-DU-DA BAND!!!

The class meets on Tuesdays at 9:30 in the morning. We start with free play and arts and crafts. At 10 AM we do circle time. This is the part where children and babies will learn Spanish vocabulary, songs and music, followed by snack time. (Please, bring a healthy snack for your child)

The field trips we will do are Cabrillo Beach Aquarium, Friendship Park Nature Center, Los Angeles Science Center and other free trips we can find that goes with the theme of the day. You are welcome to suggest ones you like to do and we may find group discounts.

I will also have a parent discussion box. This is where you can write about parenting concerns and questions and we will discuss it with the parents in the class during outside play.

Beginning Printmaking is a 10 week long seminar that introduces rich variety of printmaking techniques - we will start with monotype printing, continue with relief, progress to intaglio (drypoint, and etching). We will discuss limited edition printing, and color printing - both subtractive, and additive methods. At the end of the course, students will be encouraged to experiment with their favorite technique that they have learnt.
