Education Programs
Angels Gate Cultural Center is a place of creative discovery, exploration and enlightenment, providing the Southern California community and visitors from around the world with opportunities for enrichment and renewal.

Angels Gate Arts Initiative
The Center operates the largest arts and creativity education program in the South Bay/Harbor region. Our Harbor Youth Arts Initiative serves more than 3,000 children annually. The program focuses on inner-city schools and underserved children - kids that might otherwise have few opportunities for professional arts instruction. Classes incorporate a variety of media to teach youngsters a new awareness of themselves and their surroundings.

Artists-In-Classrooms
Artists-in-Classrooms is a school residency program offering weekly instruction by professional artist-teachers in collaboration with schoolteachers in their classrooms. Classes incorporate a variety of media including: drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture, often integrated with literacy topics and journaling. Our artist-teachers offer skill-based lessons, which integrate cross-disciplinary knowledge, educational standards, and an appreciation of cultural diversity.

Arts + Exploration Field Trips
Art + Exploration Field Trips serve children with gallery visits, artist-led discussions and workshops. Professional artist-teachers lead students on tours of our gallery exhibitions, guide cross-disciplinary discussions of creativity, and teach two consecutive, hour-long workshops in drawing/painting and mixed media assemblage. The program allows students to discover the vocabulary and processes of contemporary art and apply them to the creation of their own works .

Teacher In-Service
The teacher in-service program fosters an appreciation of the critical role of creativity and the arts education. In hands-on workshops, teachers focus on incorporating the arts into their curriculum, and watch artist-teachers in action modeling best practices in the classroom.

Outreach
The Center is committed to partnering with local organizations to provide arts instruction to Harbor area communities. Current partners include the Harbor Interfaith Services, Grand Vision, and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.

Make a Donation
Every year, Angels Gate Cultural Center provides first-rate arts education to thousands of kids in local schools. Many of these children would otherwise have no exposure to the arts. Please click the button to make a secure donation, and help us reach more kids.
