Angels Gate Cultural Center is featuring the Virginia Avenue Project in a working
production of The Disobedient Sisters, an African fable. The performance will take place on Saturday July 24 at 6:30 pm in Building H. The show will feature the original fable as well as four unique variations from different character's perspectives. Afterwards the actors will hold a question and answer session with the audience to get their impressions and feedback.
This performance will be the work in progress of a 5 day play writing and directing workshop of the Virginia Avenue Project kids and professional theater artists at Angels Gate Cultural Center. Through theater games, writing exercises, storytelling, improvisation, and discussion sessions, four separate groups will interpret and adapt The Disobedient Sisters. The theatrical production will incorporate issues of gang violence and teenage pregnancy. The working material they complete will be presented at Angels Gate Cultural Center and the full show will be performed later in November.
This is a free event open to adolescents, teenagers, and adults. No reservations are necessary.
