Four exciting playwights

Angels Playfest is a series of new two act plays written by four playwrights from the Los Angeles County. Collaborating with Playwrights Arena, Angels Gate Cultural Center presents The Lock of Five Keys, Cocks Crow, The Wiggle Room, and The Sweetness of You.

The Lock of Five Keys, written by Tom Jacobson and directed by Deborah LaVine, features the story of an American who travels to India. At first he seeks to investigate the disappearance of an important professor, but later finds himself on a manhunt across three millennia. Tom Jacobson's epic tale transcends the present and the past to a legendary world where ordinary men meet Indian emperors, demons, and gods. This show will be performed on June 12th at 1:00 pm in Building H.

Cocks Crow, written by Alice Tuan and directed by Robert Cucuzza, looks at the new China and it's power relations with American businesses. Americans Bill and Shelly of Clean Tech Corp arrive in Shanghai desperate to seal a business deal with Han the liaison of their Chinese partner company, but he may have other plans. This show will be presented on June 12th at 4:00 pm in Building H.

The Wiggle Room, written by Oliver Mayer and directed by Don Boughton, is a comedy exploring desire, family secrets and the value of people and property. When Luke and Phil inherit their father's rundown hotel, evicting its sorry lot of crazy tenants and turning it into something profitable seems obvious- until they become entangled with three attractive sisters who are set on changing their plans. This show will be performed on June 13th at 1:00 pm in Building H.

The Sweetness of You is written by Michael Premsrirat and directed by Nathan D. Singh is based on 'Tis Pity She's A Whore'. Premsrirat critiques the 80's music scene and taboo of forbidden passion. Endlessly stuck playing in dive bars, Joon and Lolly are brother and sister trying to make it in the 80's New Wave scene. Will Joon's plans to settle down with his new girlfriend ruin their chances at fame and fortune? More importantly, will his obsessive sister allow it? This show will be featured on June 13th at 4:00 pm in Building H.
