Publicitiy Intern
The Publicity Intern at AGCC will have a unique opportunity to develop a
Publicity campaign for the 2012 Calendar year. This will include in depth
explorations into the community to understand the effectiveness of various
Publicity techniques and how this varies by each community member. It will
be an opportunity for anyone interested in exploring the way members of a
community receive, process, and act on information. The intern will also
play a crucial role in further developing an awareness of the AGCC
programming and increasing turnout numbers. The Intern may also have the opportunity to interview members of the
community as part of the Community Mapping Program AGCC is currently
underway with, made possible by the James Irvine Foundation.
Internship is unpaid, but the experience will provide an exceptional
foundation for any Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit, or Arts
Administrative career. This internships is a good match for Sociology,
Psychology, and Various Arts majors. College credit is negotiable.

Film Intern
Angels Gate Cultural Center is an arts-based and educational nonprofit organization serving the South Bay/Harbor region. Located on a renovated Army barracks on Angels Gate Park, AGCC provides year round arts programming, including 4 gallery spaces, an artist in classroom residency program, a full schedule of community classes, and one of the largest studio artist programs on the West Coast. In addition, AGCC provides special events, workshops, performances, and festivals throughout the year.
The Film Intern at AGCC will assist the Visual Arts Director in programming, promoting, and organizing a series of films curated by renowned photographer and theorist Alan Sekula. The films will be presented in exclusive screenings in our Main Gallery. These events will be open to the public and will all reflect on the exhibition year, which focuses predominately on exploring the South Bay and Harbor region. The internship will develop skills in public relations and marketing, arts administration, and the organizing and executing of a major film related event. It is a fantastic match for anyone with an interest in working in public programming for art centers and galleries, or film-related events.
Internship is mostly unpaid, but the experience will provide an exceptional foundation for any Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit, or Arts Administrative career. A small stipend will be offered for the weekend of the film screening. This internships is a good match for Film and Various Arts majors. College credit is negotiable.
Upon completion of an internship, interns will receive a written evaluation and have multiple projects to add to their portfolio.
