HOWL:
halloween fun and scary stories
Oct. 30 from 2- 8pm

HOWL is Angels Gate Cultural Center's annual Halloween Celebration. There will be an afternoon of activities, performances, workshops and contests, culminating in the 9th annual performance of Melanie Jone's Scary Stories around a real bonfire in the AGCC Ampitheatre. This event is open to all ages, but very small children should be accompanied by an adult, as these stories can be very, very scary.

Beginning at 3pm, the site will be alive with music performances featuring some of our own studio artists, an Opening Reception in the Gallery (3-5pm), and free arts workshops for children. There will even be a special surprise from our friends at Ft Macarthur.

Roll Up Your Sleeves and Get Ready to Have Some Slippery Fun! Help a Mad Scientist Build a Giant Brain Out Of Clay. This collaborative project will later be on display at the center, led by Studio Artist and Childrens Ceramic Class Teacher Michelle Solorio.

We will be having two contests for everyone:

Pumpkin Contest- Carve a pumpkin at home and bring it up where we will display them for the duration of the day for everyone to see. Then, at 5:30 we will announce the winners for scariest, funniest, and most creative, judged by our very own Studio Artists. Pumpkin Carving is a form of art after all!

Costume Contest- Everyone's favorite part of Halloween, where else throughout the year can you walk through a gallery as a Zombie? At 5:30pm we will announce winners and give out prizes. Children, adults, and pets are all welcome to compete!

Come for the fun, then grab a bite to eat and curl up around the fire for scary stories at 6:30pm. Sit up close though, the back seats are where the ghosts like to sit. Please BRING your own seating and DRESS WARMLY. $5 admission fee.

Ćevapčići Festival
Sep 10, 11am - 6pm

Ćevapčići Festival. Join us for a taste of Ćevapčići, visit with friends, listen to ethnic music and surf rock sounds, dance the kolo to tambouritza bands, drink coffee and check out fantastic art by local artists.

Ćevapčići is named after a ground meat, beef & lamb combination. It is grilled & served with Ivar sauce. It's common to the Balkans, & shared by many of the ethnic groups in the region. This year, we will have food vendors, a craft fair, & non-stop music, from Tambouritza to Surf Rock, from noon to 6pm. The Whale & Ale will be among the food vendors, - serving grilled Ćevapčići & Tzatziki sauce: (yoghurt, cucumber, garlic, lemon). There will be cultural activities for children, along with demonstrations on the Kolo, making Greek coffee, & how to grill ćevapčići.
