Shannon Fincke: Chairs Series

May 21 - July 23, 2006

Public Reception: Sunday, May 21, 2 pm - 4 pm

Angels Gate is pleased to present the mixed media paintings of artist Shannon Fincke in our Downstairs Gallery. The show opens Sunday, May 21 at 10 am. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, May 21, 2 pm - 4 pm, with free food and drink.

About the artist
Shannon Fincke is a Los Angeles based painter, originally hailing from Pennsylvania. She did her undergraduate work at Susquehanna University, Washington & Jefferson College, and France's Marchutz School of Drawing and Painting, before completing her Masters at New York University.

About the Chairs Series
Shannon Fincke's Chairs Series is a series of semi-abstract process based paintings. These works are composed of two primary visual elements, a chaotic ground and the insertion of arrangements of two dimensional cut paper chair shapes onto that ground. The combination of visual chaos and the ordered chairs creates an air of tension and potential that pushes viewers to explore the potential of action contained within the elements of the paintings.
