Opening Reception: Sunday, January 30, 2-4pm
Harold Plople writes "... portraits are like the man in the New Testament Scripture who looks at himself in the mirror and almost immediately forgets what he looks like." In his series entitled American Characters, his portraits are of men that have defined the American landscape over the last 200 years. The paintings are dark and luminous as faces emerge through loose and quick brush strokes to reveal the content of the character behind the story many of us are already familiar with from folklore and school.

This exhibition is sponsored in part by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Coastal San Pedro Neighborhood Council, and the Central San Pedro Neighborhood Council.
